"Traditional guardians, in whose memory the text values are preserved, are the (only) carriers of tradition, but unfortunately they have not long to live. The immense oral cultural heritage must be saved, and must not be allowed to die with the death of the traditional guardians. In Africa, when an old person dies, it is a library that burns.

Why registration and subscription?

YALIW is scholar-led and scholar-supported. Unlike platforms funded by corporate ownership or pay-to-publish models, YALIW depends on reader subscriptions to operate. Registration is required to access abstracts and full papers. This allows us to track usage, prevent abuse, and invest revenue directly back into the platform.
